The new Honda Cross Cub comes in both 50cc and 110cc versions, each to suit your particular needs. In its 2021 iteration, the Cross Cub 110 gets a limited-edition Puko Blue paint scheme Honda has showcased the 2021 Cross Cub, an off-road focused iteration of the Super Cub, in a special Puko Blue paint scheme that’ll be limited to 2,000 units when it goes on sale on July 22 in Japan this year. Since then, it hasn’t undergone any significant updates, save for a revised taillight in 2020 to comply with Japan’s revised traffic regulations. The instrument cluster, too, is delightfully basic, with just a speedo and a fuel gauge. That said, the Cross Cub 110 eschews the front apron, and the longer-travel suspension and block-pattern tyres give it the requisite trail-ready credo. The Cross Cub 110 is powered by an air-cooled, fuel-injected, 109cc single cylinder engine mated to a four-speed clutchless gearbox. The motor makes approximately 8PS and competent figures considering the Cross Cub 110’s 106kg kerb weight. Worth Waiting? Umm, no. Simply put, off-roading still isn’t as widely adopted in India as it is overseas, with the idea of an off-road moped an even more alien concept. And then there’s the small matter of cost. In India, the Honda Cross Cub 110 would go up against an entry-level step-through like the TVS XL100. However, the Cross Cub 110 retails for the equivalent of around Rs lakh excluding taxes in Japan, which is closer to the sticker price of TVS’ flagship supersport, the Apache RR310! Besides, Indian consumers regard mopeds as utilitarian, budget-friendly modes of transport, so a lifestyle-oriented moped with premium pricing makes very little sense. Hence, despite Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India’s portfolio replete with small-capacity offerings, chances of the Cross Cub 110 getting to our shores are miniscule. New for 2023, a full lineup of custom parts cater to many use cases, from bags to racks, mufflers, windshields, and even a floating brake rotor, these builds can serve as a template or inspiration for you. SP Takegawa also has parts for the Honda Dax 125, yet another bike that I don’t mind owning and treating like a toy for around-town commutes. The same treatment is given to the new Super Cubs and the Cross Cubs from team red. Gallery SP Takegawa Honda Super Cub 110 The pair of 110s get a set of parts. Some are universal, but others are form fitted to specific bikes. SP Takegawa did a custom build for each bike, and the first up is the Super Cub 110 with its touring bag strapped onto the handlebars and even comes with a clear window for your phone. Under that is a rack that bolts on near the footwells. On top of being a tiny luggage rack, it also adds a bit of protection by preventing scratches from ingress and egress. Finally, the Cub gets a P-Shooter muffler, finished in chrome, and slips on to replace the stock system. Gallery SP Takegawa Honda Cross Cub 110 Next up is the Cross Cub, which is a little more rugged than its city-going counterpart. With a little more emphasis on trailing, the light bike gets touring amenities that are sure to enhance the bike’s long-ride chops. The Cross Cub gets a windscreen as well as a windshield for the rider’s lower extremities. Hand guards were also fitted, in a bid to fully cover the rider on colder rides out. There is even a special seat for this model, a cushioned seat cover that’s said to enhance rider comfort on the saddle. Last but not least, a muffler did in a scrambler style with two silencers that add to the adventurous look of the Cross Cub 110. The pair of bikes are both interesting and fun in concept. Honda’s 110cc underbones have a fun aesthetic and appeal to them, and SP Takegawa illustrates that they’re also fun to toy around with and customize. Check These Cubs
By Rahul Ghosh Honda first introduced the Cross Cub in international markets in 2018. Now the company has revealed a rather interesting limited edition 2021 Honda Cross Cub 110. Only 2,000 units will be produced in this spec. The Cross Cub 110 special edition retains its offroad ready looks and then gets additional features starting with the special Puco Blue paint scheme. The Cross Cub 110 uses black as a contrast, including the wheel rims, seat, absorber springs, handlebars and rear rack. Meanwhile, the engine and fork legs are painted silver, with a chrome exhaust guard styled like the units on scramblers in the 1970s. Very interesting! The headlight gets a crash guard as well which is painted in body colour. The Cross Cub 110 also comes with LED lights and block pattern tyres to suit its off-road bike looks. The bike also comes with a single seat and rear carrier as the Cross Cub 110 is a 109cc fuel injected motor which churns out 8bhp7,500rpm and of torque at 5,500rpm. The bike weighs in at a rather light 106kg and with a low seat height of 784mm, it comes within the reach of all. Needless to say this particular motorcycle or moped if we may dare call it is a fun machine, and we would love to see it in India. AT LAST October’s Tokyo Motor Show Honda revealed a planned for future production’ prototype for the Cross Cub 110. Now it’s putting it on sale in Japan along with a smaller 50cc version. Both bikes are full revamps on the previous Japanese-market Cross Cub. Like their predecessors they’re based on the Super Cub scooter – itself revamped for 2018 – but with a rugged, off-road-inspired edge. It’s a strange combination, but the Cross Cub actually manages to build upon the simple, utilitarian appeal of the Super Cub. It ditches its parent bike’s trademark leg fairings, valanced front mudguard and bar-mounted headlight in favour of a stripped-down look. The new, low-mounted LED headlight is protected with a simple steel cage, the front mudguard is as basic as it could be and, on the 110cc version, the 17-inch wheels are fitted with semi-knobbly 50cc version looks near-identical, but its rugged looks are aimed at the rough-and-tumble of city life rather than having any off-road aspirations. The wheels are smaller 14-inchers, clad in road-only rubber, makes for lower gearing and nimbler low-speed turning. The perfect pizza-delivery bike?As with the new Super Cub 110 and 50, there’s no sign of these versions being sold in Europe, but Honda is understood to be bringing back the Cub to these shores. It showed a Euro4-legal Super Cub 125 as a concept’ last year, along with its 125cc Monkey bike concept, and both are believed to have a strong chance of production. Should the Super Cub 125, with its disc brakes and cleaner, more powerful engine go on sale over here, it wouldn’t be a huge leap for Honda to strip it back to create a Cross Cub variant as well.
